Last night, we decided to put on our suits and ties and head uptown to watch The Friars Club recognize the work of ABC Eyewitness News Anchor Bill Ritter, ABC News' Bob Woodruff, and a handful of distinguished journalist. Why? Honestly, mainly because we can't get enough Brian Williams...
Bonus: Check out Brian Williams on the Late Show with David Letterman last night. [Gawker]
"At this point there must be some teenagers who think Brian Williams is a sketch comedy actor who has a really dry nightly parody news show." -Mindy Kaling.
Seriously, it's hard to take the guy seriously these days when we get constantly bombarded with his dry comedy routine of Brooklyn in our taxi tv's. Then there was the hilarious joke he made about the NYTime's coverage of Brooklyn? And his other shenanigans, like popping into the Kathie Lee and Hoda show during their workout, eating a donut exclaiming "You walk in the studio and you smell this combination of alcohol and sweat. A little Loves Baby Soft. It's nice!" [Today]
Ok, ok, on to last night's event: Woodruff received a lifetime journalistic achievement award for his acclaimed body of work. Woodruff, who nearly died reporting from Iraq in 2006, was singled out for courage in pursuit of the truth. Ritter was honored for his commitment to objectively reporting the news.
