Barry McGee at Cheim and Read

Barry McGee at Cheim and Read
Primarily recognized for his San Francisco street art roots, Bay Area-native Barry McGee presents a tongue-in-cheek critique of consumerism and commercialization with his first NYC solo show in eight years. His multi-layered installations involve wooden ephemera, embellished surfboards, abstract painted panels, and pieces emblazoned with the moniker "L. Fong" (his street tag) and the initials "THR" (The Human Race or The Harsh Reality) and "DFW" (Down For Whatever). Well, if you're down for whatever this week, let's just say this show would be a good place to start. When: Through October 26 Where: Cheim and Read, 547 West 25th Street [Photo via]
