Bethany Shorb, Painting Machines
The science of sound is visually depicted in this multifaceted exhibition by Bethany Shorb. Recreating the experiment typical to school-age science fairs, Shorb captures the granular imagery of placing sand on steel plates in order to map out a musical tone. The sonic patterns are then combined with materials typical of the automobile industry (as the artist is from U.S. car capital, Detroit) and are finally baked and blasted into preservation.
There will be an opening reception on Friday, September 13, from 7-10 pm
