Jason Brinkerhoff, "Some Women"
If "ahistorical hybrids" are your thing, head over to ZieherSmith for Jason Brinkerhoff's first solo exhibition at the gallery. Brinkerhoff is a rising star, with a large selection of his work set to display at Saatchi Gallery in London in the very near future.
The Bay-area-based artist is self-taught, drawing his inspiration from vintage fashion magazines, vernacular photos, and contemporary art. Using such materials as graphite, colored pencil, wax pastel, and collage, Brinkerhoff depicts fluid figures that are outside of time and yet, in their curves and garments, harken to bygone eras.
