Peter Gallo, Ellen Lesperance, and Aaron Spangler, "Take Back Vermont"
Shortly after Vermont's state legislature passed a law establishing civil unions for same-sex couples, simple black and white signs with the words “TAKE BACK VERMONT” began to appear along the state’s winding country roads. Years later the signs still dangled from trees, fence posts, and barnsides as symbols of the culture war and this exhibition pays homage through paintings, sculptures, and works on paper.
