Fabián was born in NYC to a purportedly wealthy Ecuadorian businessman who once owned the Boulevard Hotel in South Beach along with two Miami restaurants. And while it was understood that his father, whose family was also involved in beer-brewing and telecommunications, bankrolled his leisurely lifestyle, GofG reported back in the day that he had, in fact, quite a history of bankruptcy.
Nevertheless, Fabián appeared to lead a charmed life between New York, Ecuador, Florida, and finally Connecticut, where he managed to matriculate at Cheshire Academy (the alma mater of one J.P. Morgan) after apparently getting kicked out of a number of fancy prep schools.
