Miami Design District 2020 Annual Design Commission
What: The Miami Design District is bringing back the annual Design Commission, where a new emerging creative talent is chosen to reimagine the neighborhood’s public streets through immersive and interactive concepts.
This year’s winner is a renowned Chilean design collective, Great Things to People (gt2P), who will present their proposed installation, Conscious Actions, which consists of Umbrella Birds and Swing Gravity Shadows. Featuring interactive, play-ground inspired devices that will be installed throughout the neighborhood, Conscious Actions is reminiscent of carefree, childhood fun, reminding visitors of the direct impact that every action has on our environment. Each device is activated through natural forces, which, when used, responds with effects like transformative surfaces, kinetic motion, and solar-powered lighting.
