Hike To Support LA's Foster Care Kids With Happy Trails' 1st Annual Hike-A-Thon!

Join GofG L.A. this Sunday, October 23rd at Temescal Gateway Park for the 1st Annual Happy Trails For Kids Hike-A-Thon! Come out and enjoy a picnic by the beach with In-N-Out Burger, art & crafts, games, and more, all for the very worthy cause to support Southern California's foster care system. All are welcome, so bring your friends and family out for this Sunday Funday.

About Happy Trails For Kids

Non-profit Happy Trails for Kids has been serving the noble purpose of giving deserving children in Southern California's foster care system the summer camp experience. Every summer, foster care youths who often miss out on the best and most enjoyable moments that define childhood, are afforded the opportunity of a week-long sleep-away camp excursion filled with outdoor activities, campfire sessions, and arts & crafts, thanks to Happy Trails Camp. These summer camp experiences not only open up Happy Trails campers' eyes to new interests and summertime fun, but also foster growth in areas of self-confidence, independence and friendship-building. In addition, the these summer retreats are supplemented by reunion events like movie nights and Halloween parties for Happy Trails campers throughout the year. About The 1st Annual Hike-A-Thon

This Sunday, to help raise funds for the Happy Trails cause, the organization is hosting its first ever Hike-A-Thon and you're invited. The day promises to be loads of fun and with plenty of activities to keep you busy on your lazy Sunday. The event will be held at Pacific Palisades' Temescal Gateway Park where participants will hike Temescal's trails for the sponsored Hike-A-Thon. For every $500 raised by hikers, a child in California's foster care system will get to enjoy a full year of Happy Trails year-round programs, including its week-long summer camp. If you're game for the trek, it's not too late to sign up to take to the trails in the Hike-A-Thon and you can sign-up HERE.

Hikers and corporate sponsors including The Gores Group, Proskauer, Gilchrist & Rutter, Skadden Arps, Gibson Dunn, O'Melveny & Myers, DLA Piper, and Eastdil Secured have already raised over $60,000. To contribute by donating to support a hiker in the Hike-A-Thon, go HERE.

If you think you may want to skip the hiking part but are game for the rest, the Hike-A-Thon finish line at Temescal Gateway Park by the beach will have plenty of hike-free entertainment for you, with music, arts & crafts projects, face painting and a picnic of In-N-Out Burger, Big Man Bakes cupcakes, O.N.E. Coconut Water, and more. (FYI: this maybe the best reason you'll ever have to justify eating a double-double and animal fries.)
