We here at GofG L.A. have your best interests at heart, and as certified style experts, do what we can to keep everyone up to speed on the latest fashion do's and don'ts. So despite what your experience as a cultured citizen of the world has taught you, please trust us as we explain why a certain hallmark of the hapless fanny pack and Tevas-with-socks-wearing tourist is currently in vogue. Join us as we, with the help of Kirsten Dunst, show you why islandy floral-emblazoned button-downs aren't just for the cast of "Gilligan" nor unfortunate necessities when your luggage gets lost en route to your beach vacay, but are chic again thanks to our beloved Opening Ceremony. Hawaiian shirt maker Reyn Spooner, founded by Reyn McCullough and Ruth Spooner in the 60's (AKA the real deal), has collaborated with cutting-edge purveyor of the coolness factor Opening Ceremony to bring back these iconic prints in full force with an indie-chic edge. We wouldn't expect anything less from OC, which has an incredible knack for capturing the essential hip-without-trying vibe that we all secretly want to channel. The result of this fashion marriage is a beachy collection perfect for summer (or year-round for L.A.) of guys' and girls' pieces that feature a modern-meets classic mix of patterns and cuts.

The line runs from $130 for a classic shirt to $300 for a breezy dress. And if you still need some convincing in order to get your hands on a piece, Kirsten Dunst and musicians Jenny and Johnny starred in a mini-photoshoot on an adventure in the woods to showcase the collection: [All photos via]
Of course, this collaboration wouldn't be complete without enlisting some of Opening Ceremony's friends and some familiar faces. In a video by Francis Ford Coppola's granddaughter, Gia Coppola, an eclectic mix of musicians, artists, and actors come together and do a pretty convincing job of making the Opening Ceremony X Reyn Spooner collection look like wardrobe staples of the hip set.

Oh, and look at these trendwhores! Local up-and-coming band White Arrows was certainly ahead of the curve with this whole Hawaiian-print shirt renaissance when they played all over L.A. this spring. How chic are they?? Aloha!
