The Viper Room has played host to many an artist, both up-and-coming and long established, who take its small stage to impress their L.A. audience, and last night's Hugo show was no exception. The first artist signed to Jay-Z's Roc Nation label played his heart out for the crowd and celebrated his first L.A. performance with an after party on the rooftop of The London West Hollywood.
The British-born artist has been successful working behind the scenes as a songwriter and built himself a rather impressive resume, penning songs like "Disappear" which landed on Beyoncé's latest album, "I Am Sasha Fierce." His song for The B caught the attention of none other than J Hova who signed him to his own Roc Nation. Known for his blending and even transcending of music genres, Hugo recently mixed his bluesy rock sound with newer hip-hop styles for his version of "99 Problems", a tribute to his biggest advocate.
After his crowd-pleasing performance that showcased his eclectic range of style, the party continued just a few steps away (although everyone probably drove anyway) around the corner with a rooftop soiree at The London. The cocktails were flowing and the fedoras were abundant as the crowd buzzed with excitement over Hugo's performance. With a show at the Viper Room and a party from the rooftop overlooking the city's twinkling sprawl and hills, Hugo's promising introduction to L.A. was undeniable.
