Action Bronson at Constellation Room (Santa Ana)
What's happening to New York rap music? It's easy sometimes to feel like there's no longer a place in today's dance-party hip-hop world from some grimy dudes from the outer boroughs, but the rising success of Flushing, Queens' own Action Bronson certainly suggests there's still life out there for NY's finest. It doesn't hurt that he was a gourmet chef before he became a rapper, and so his raps are laced with food references, wit, and a toughness that never comes across as outright bluster. I'd tell you to think of a new-wave Ghostface, but apparently he doesn't like to talk about it, and when this dude tells you something, you listen. [Details] [via]
