Brad Pitt, a last-minute addition to the cast, played Judge Vaughn Walker. Originally, John C. Reilly had the role, but was moved into the Blankenhorn role to accommodate Pitt, who, according to Entertainment Weekly, "brought a bemused understatement into the role."
