Last night brought L.A. another installment of Check Yo Ponytail 2 at The Echoplex with Das Racist and Yelawolf as the special guest performers. We learned so much from the night, we feel the responsible thing to do is pass it all on to you because knowledge is power. From white people and their coconut water to Diplo cameos and the importance of Kate Bush to hip hop, here are the eight lessons learned from the night:
If you bring weed and it gets confiscated upon entry, they'll give it back to you when you leave.
Performers might sing Usher's "You Make Me Wanna" repeatedly in really off-key R&B voices and you just have to be cool about it.
Pants are optional, so it's no big deal if you lose them at some point in the night.
They probably make really strong drinks there so your Muppets might get too fucked up to handle themselves. Advise them to take it easy on the drinks but plan on having to eventually carry them at the end of the night.
If Diplo's there, let him do what he wants. If that means him holding up and shaking the t-shirt of the musical acts for most of the night, so be it. He's not hurting anyone.
One of the performers might crowd surf without their shoes to Tina Turner's "Simply The Best".
British singer/songwriter Kate Bush is real hip hop. You will know this after Das Racist plays almost her entire album while yelling "THIS IS REAL HIP HOP!!!" at you.
If you're white, you might be chastised by Dap of Das Racist for thinking coconut water is new.
