Malibu Restaurant News: Nobu, Wolfgang Puck and Cafe Habana

[Photo via] Brace yourselves: some major changes to Malibu's restaurant landscape will be taking place in the next year.  First, the famed Nobu, which has been serving suckers way, way overpriced Japanese-style fare since 1999 from the far corner of the Malibu Country Mart is relocating to the Windsail Property. As the first Nobu to open in L.A., the restaurant brought people from all over the city who made the schlep out to Malibu just for dinner there (until the one on La Cienega opened), making it one of the Country Mart's main attractions.  The restaurant's move marks the end of an era for the posh Cross Creek shopping village, but with a new location about a mile away, it will probably experience the same business as its original address with its $23 Sashimi Salads and $26 Albacore Salsa.

Meanwhile, Wolfgang Puck plans to open a restaurant with new concept on the Malibu Pier.  The world-renowned chef has not had a restaurant in Malibu since Granita which closed in 2005. We're thinking the cuisine will feature Puck's signature Asian flair and trust it will be quite pricey. [Photo via]

Both the Puck restaurant and new Nobu are slated for 2011 openings, but the area will see a new addition before then with the opening of Cafe Habana this summer. Thanks to Randy Gerber, the New York-based chain of Cuban cafes will welcome Angelenos to their new location sometime this summer at the Malibu Lumber Yard.  [Photo via]
