Perez Hilton's One Night in Los Angeles

When: Saturday, August 23 Where: Troubadour Other details: On Saturday night, August 23rd, the music industry's future made itself known at Perez Hilton's pre-VMA party, One Night in Los Angeles. Some of the best up-and-coming artists of 2014 took the stage at the iconic Troubadour in Los Angeles. DJ Clinton Sparks opened the show and got the crowd warmed up for a night of great performances. Songstress Bebe Rexha did a set which included a rendition of Eminem and Rihanna's hit single "The Monster," which she actually co-wrote herself. The man behind the vocals of Tiesto's hit track "Wasted", Matthew Koma, serenaded the audience while Swedish artist Tove Lo mesmerized the crowd with her one-of-a-kind sound and clean vocals showcased by her single "Habits (Stay High)". LA-native sibling-group Echosmith performed their hit song "Cool Kids" which had the crowd swaying and singing along. Finally, Kiesza and Rixton closed out the concert with sets that included each of their chart-topping singles "Hideaway" and "Me and My Broken Heart" respectively. The future of the music industry looks very bright indeed. GofG: I love that you do this event with these artists that are right on the cusp of stardom. What is the motivation behind that? Perez Hilton: It's really pure and organic. I love music. It's my biggest passion in life, and I still - even though I'm an old man now - love discovering new music. I think it keeps me young. And also, it keeps me entertained because I always get to listen to new stuff. I'm thrilled that some of my favorite - truly - artists of 2014 are performing tonight. I think every single artist tonight can be a potential future superstar. Mark my words. I remember my VMA party in 2012; Rita Ora performed. I booked Iggy Azalea to perform at one of my parties in 2011. Now look at them! GofG: The VMAs are coming up tomorrow. Do you have a prediction of what "the moment" is going to be at the VMAs this year? PH: Yes! My prediction has already started to come true. I said earlier this week that Nicki Minaj is going to be this year's Miley Cyrus. It's not even Sunday yet, and she's already making headlines with one of her snakes biting a dancer! But, what's going to happen is one of two things: Nicki will be the new Miley of the VMAs this year and it's going to be glorious, or Nicki is going to try to be the new Miley and it's going to be disastrous. And also the scoop on Beyonce is that she's got a 15-minute mega medley planned, where she's going to do every single song off her most recent album which nobody's done before. I'm not sure I need to hear every song off that album. GofG: Last thing. How is fatherhood treating you? PH: Fatherhood is the best! My son is here with me, and after this trip we're going to Vegas for Labor Day. So we're having a blast!
