1975: Producer Bert Schneider Thanks Anti-War Activists
Bert Schneider won for the Vietnam War documentary Hearts and Minds. During his acceptance speech he thanked anti-war activists. The Academy wasn't pleased. Later on in the show, they sent Frank Sinatra out to say, "The academy is saying, 'We are not responsible for any political references made on the program, and we are sorry they had to take place this evening.'" Oh how times have changed.
