The "Mad Men" Unbuttoned Book Release Party Goes 1960s

What's not to love about a show full of cigarette-smoking, alcohol-drinking, racist, sexist and adulterous characters? Oh, and lots of quality Jon Hamm screen time? Apparently nothing, since America has fallen in love with "Mad Men" and so has blogger Natasha Vargas-Cooper.

The juicy drama-packed show about the dapper, booze-swilling men working at a Madison Avenue ad agency in 1960s New York focuses on the cultural and social changes in America of the time. If you remember anything from high school history class, there were quite a few. But if you need to brush up on your 1960s U.S. history, Natasha Vargas-Cooper has your back. On her blog, The Footnotes of Mad Men,  readers can get a nice backdrop of the series and find all the historical context of everything that happens in the show. And the girl really does her homework, as the blog is basically the SparkNotes for "Mad Men." Having had such a successful run with Footnotes, Natasha went on to turn the blog into a book, Mad Men Unbuttoned: A Romp Through 1960s America, which she celebrated last night with a cocktail release party. How very Betty Draper of her.

The dress code was simple: 1960s. Men were decked out in old school suits and fedoras (currently experiencing an unfortunate comeback), and the ladies put on their vintage dresses and heals. Natasha brightened up West Hollywood's Formosa Cafe with her smile (and electric blue dress) and had no problem celebrating her hard work. She danced with her friends, munched on hors d'oeuvres, and mingled with the guests. If you're a "Mad Men" fan, Footnotes reader, or even a history buff, her celebrated book will be money well spent!
