Early Life & Pedigree
Born in Hubli, India, Akshata was raised by her grandparents while her parents, Narayana and Sudha Murty, pursued their careers in technology and engineering. In 1981, her father founded multi-national IT company Infosys, which is now worth over $100 billion. Her mother became the first female engineer to work at India's largest car manufacturer and is currently a celebrated philanthropist who has founded orphanages, supports rural development, and works closely with the Gates Foundation for public health in India.
