You Should Know: Pete Moore

by Christie Grimm · August 29, 2016

The face that launched a thousand shirts, Pete Moore is a Lawn Guyland local who has turned the keepsake tee into an art. Because those shorts with "The End" on the end? Totally five years ago.

Name: Pete Moore
Occupation: Founder, Montauk Mainstay
Place of Birth: Huntington, NY
Instagram / Twitter: @montaukmainstay

What do you actually do? Work with cool local businesses (mainstays, if you will) to create and sell apparel featuring their names and logos, so they can focus on running the restaurant (or the hotel, or the marina, or the bake shoppe, or the food truck, or the fish market...)

My motto is: Think outside the box.

5 Favorite Hamptons Places: 1) Fish Farm (most offbeat), 2) Gosman's Fish Market (secret spot for good cheese), 3) Montauket (sunsets & beer), 4) Crows Nest (truffle honey ricotta / blue crab tagliatelle, with a view), 5) Navy Pier (just jump!).

The craziest thing I've done out East is... Wait 30 years to go surfing. What was I thinking?

Best kept Hamptons secret? This very cool shop in Montauk where you can buy really nice stuff from all your favorite local businesses. Mainstay something or another?

If you had one day left out East, what would you do? Pre-dawn fishing trip with dad and bro, afternoon dive for lobsters at Culloden, then straight over to Lake Montauk for beers and clamming, sunset cocktails at Navy Pier, then home to cook up the day's bounty with the whole family.

Who should we know? I was going to ask you guys the same!
