You Should Know: Carson Griffith

by Christie Grimm · August 29, 2016

It doesn't seem to matter where Carson Griffith goes - she inevitably knows not just someone, but a host of someones. The owners, the designers, the PR people, the chef, the bartender, that random guy over there in the corner. From nights out at The Surf Lodge to a casual stop at Bob Melet's annual garage sale, leaving the house must be exhausting. Though, as far as we're concerned, there's no better a person to bear such a social cross.

Name: Carson Griffith
Occupation: Writer
Place of Birth: Sewickley, PA (don't bother looking it up on a map).
Instagram / Twitter: @cargriff
Zodiac Sign: Virgo

What do you actually do? Write about people, places and things most people have never heard of before for newspapers and magazines.

My motto is: "For what it's worth, it's never too late to be whoever you want to be. I hope you live a life you're proud of and if you find that you're not, I hope you have the strength to start over." - Fitzgerald.

5 Favorite Hamptons Places:Crow's Nest, Navy Beach, the lobby of The American Hotel, Murf's (I'm a sucker for a dive bar full of sailors), and Sunset Beach.

The craziest thing I've done out East is... I used to go skinny-dipping in the Winklevoss' pool in Quogue when I worked for GofG Hamptons' eight years ago (sorry - but not really - Cameron and Tyler!).

Best kept Hamptons secret? Black Cat Books, on Shelter Island: Because everyone needs a book for the beach, and this place has tons of out-of-print, rare and signed books to boot.

If you had one day left out East, what would you do? Take a boat to Shelter Island and back, then have a drink in the lobby of the American Hotel (and maybe another at Baron's Cove, and another at Murf's), eat the blue crab claw tagliatelle at Crow's Nest, and see who the performer was at Surf Lodge (and pray it was Patti Smith or Willie Nelson).

Who should we know? Jesse Warren, who owns Tenet in South and East Hampton, and pretty much dresses half of Long Island already.
