Don't Expect Your Host to Entertain You
While your host may be willing to chaperone you around town to show you the local sites, you should never expect this. Even though you're on vacation, your hosts are probably still working. In addition, it's not uncommon for people who live in popular tourist destinations, such as Washington, D.C. or Hawaii to have taken many guests to see the same sites over and over. Fun for you, not so much for them.
