While they certainly haven't had trouble getting people to order takeout from their Thompson Street location (so much so that they police recently had to get involved...), Carbone has likely seen a large majority of their die hard fans escape the city to ride out the storm in The Hamptons.
And so, as reported by Eater, this week the overpriced trendy Italian spot launches an equally overpriced Hamptons pickup service. Carbone Home. The program will start at $500 per week, with a minimum commitment of four weeks, so $2,000.
For that hefty price, lucky subscribers will receive a delivery that will serve two meals for four people. Dishes such as Mario’s Meatballs, cauliflower giardinia, olives, breads, salami, Caesar salad, spicy rigatoni vodka, and cakes.
But wait, you didn't think that it was all coming perfectly plated, ready to eat did you? Oh, no. It's designed to be cooked and finished in your home! A "gourmet" Blue Apron of sorts, if you will.
With so little to look forward to these days, trust me, I get it. The idea that you are kind of able to eat at Carbone twice a week even if you have to make it yourself is kind of alluring-ish, I suppose.
People can even add on premiums such as wine service, which starts at $200 for six “sommelier’s choice” bottles, or fresh flowers, decorations, and chic table settings from Social Studies.
Something overpriced, decadent and exclusive (there's only a limited number of membership spots available), obviously people in The Hamptons will eat this up.
