[Photo via Southampton Press] This Hamptons house of the day, known as "The Halsey House" was around long before the Hamptons was ever known as "the Hamptons". Constructed originally by Thomas Halsey in 1648, the Halsey house is located in Southampton and is believed to be the oldest English-style house in New York state. Today the home is open to the public as a museum. However, if you visit, keep an eye out for ghostly spirits of the Halsey family lurking about the home.
