The Class War Comes To The Hamptons

Last summer, following the great COVID exodus of rich New Yorkers to the East End, the Hamptons were thrown into disarray due to a labor shortage that (oh so horrifically!) had wealthy Hamptonites waiting weeks for manicures, landscapers, plumbers, electricians, and housekeepers. Their favorite pricey restaurants were understaffed and a decimated rental market made affordable housing for seasonal workers impossible to find. 

"There’s very little affordable housing for the backbone of the restaurant: the bussers, the dishwashers, the line cooks," one chef told Bloomberg at the time.
