My friends from Boston were visiting this weekend, and I wanted to make sure they'd leave having seen more than chlorine, traffic, and the overly Intermixed. After Thursday's champagne-fueled Surf Lodge session, Friday saw us back in Montauk, this time at Rick's Crabby Cowboy Cafe for Shark Attack Sounds Independence Day bash (put on by Mazdack Rassi, Ben Watts, and Ben Pundole with Tanteo Tequila & Milk Studios as sponsors.
When we arrived, Tanteo's open bar was closed but the orchetta and chocolate cocktails had clearly done their job.

We sat on hay bales by the firepits and watched the as the ebullient hipster/model/ibanker crowd, plus Matt Dillon and (maybe?) TI danced to Simon and Garfunkle, Dire Straits, and Billy Joel. It started to rain about an hour in, but nobody seemed to mind; save for the clusters around the bar, the indoor part of the shack remained pretty empty.
We stayed until 2, when the party tapered off, and made it all the way to the Tanteo Estate before realizing that, while there may be a place for 4am tequila shots, we hadn't found it, and wearily headed home. Really, a terrific, low-key-but-still-buzzing way to celebrate our break from the Brits.
