All Dressed Up With Nowhere To Go: It Girl Artist Robyn Blair Davidson

by Stephanie Maida · July 14, 2020

Who isn't absolutely, completely, hopelessly desperate for an excuse to get dressed up these days?

Colorful candy artist Robyn Blair Davidson (@byrobynblair) may be leading the quarantine life out East these days, but she can most definitely be counted on to sweeten things up - literally. The cool girl creative is renowned for her coveted confectionary artwork, which combines fun phrases with a backdrop of real wrapped candy.

And though she's been busy helping us keep busy at home, recently launching a new line of almost too-fun jigsaw puzzles, we managed to snag her in a moment of chic reprieve.

    What are you wearing?
A polka dot Caroline Constas dress. I love that this can be dressed up or worn with sandals like I am now. It's as comfy as wearing sweatpants!

Where have you been hunkering down?
I’ve been staying in Southampton with my family. The extra quality time we've been able to share has most definitely been a silver lining in all of this.

How would you describe your quarantine style?
No jeans! I can’t remember the last time I put on a pair of jeans. Other than that, a lot of easy dresses, lounge wear, and bikinis!

What's been your favorite way to kill a couple of hours?
Walking! I used to walk at least 10,000 steps a day in Manhattan. I miss walking so much and not even realizing it. Now if I find time between work and being with family I like to go for a long walk and try to get my steps in!

Have you picked up any new skills at home?
Making a frothy almond milk latte! Pre-quarantine, this was my go-to coffee order at my local coffee shop, so I bought all the equipment to be able to make one myself from home.

Since we all know you're the art queen of candy, what's been your go-to sweet treat in quarantine?
Kookaburra licorice and sour belts. Will always be my go-to for sweet and sour!

What's the last thing that made you gut-laugh?
My older sister’s daughter, Charlie. She’s 18 months and is becoming a sponge. With so many people under one roof, she’s been repeating the absolute funniest things. We belly laugh over her.

What's one little luxury you miss the most?
    The spa!

Where's the first place you'll be dressing up for a night out after this is over?
Dinner and rooftop drinks with my friends!
