It all started for Lynn Calvo with a bag of lemons and a little girls lemonade stand. Now she's a bit older and a lot wiser and has been handed yet another bag of lemons and she's determined to serve up the best spiked lemonade in Montauk at her new spot, The Hula Hut in Montauk.
Set to open for the first time this weekend, don't be shocked by the absence of loud blenders at Lynn's Hula Hut, which is a rather authentic Polynesian bar, located at the Montauk Marine Basin. After buying an office trailer, Lynn was determined to convert it into the Polynesian bar of her dreams. Starting this weekend Lynn will be serving Pacific Rim cocktails and with years of restaurant design experience behind her, she's finally made her dreams a reality, offering customers a quaint spot to get their daytime drink on.
Everyone told Lynn that she would never get a liquor license, but this go getter didn't listen and after the long process of getting all the permits, the town of East Hampton has finally approved The Hula Hut. So come over and grab a drink, Lynn has three great ones you gotta try. From the 'Hula Hula Juice' to the 'Shark Bite' she'll have you drinking like a true Hawaiian as soon as you step in the door.
Every Saturday come and enjoy house blended Bloody Marys or go for the create-your-own Bloody Mary Bar featuring special hot sauces, and with names like 'Smack Your Mamma' and 'Who's Your Daddy,' it really can't get much better. Just a fair warning, the Bloody Mary Bar is not for the weak, so prepare yourself for the spice in store.
The ambiance at Hula Hut is cheerful and zen-like with a hammock garden and a beach sand patio just begging for relaxation. Believe me, if the day beds don't get you loosened up, the 'Shark Bite' certainly will. Seeing as Lynn is a true Montauk fisherman's daughter, this Hula Hut really is the reel deal!
So kids, the moral of the story is when life hands you lemons, spike that lemonade.
