Samantha Yanks' Top 5 Things That Excite Her This Summer, And Where She Will Be Filling Her Appetite

by guestofaguest · May 27, 2011

Samantha Yanks is a woman of many talents. A mother and Editor-in-Chief of both Hamptons Magazine and Gotham Magazine, Samantha juggles a busy schedule while staying in touch with what is cool both in NYC and out East. As THE voice of what is hip in the Hamptons, she gives us her top five things she is excited for this summer (and one extra for good measure),  and gives us the inside scoop to where she will be filling her appetite below!

"Top 5 things I’m excited for this Summer (and one more for good measure)

    1. Pure Hamptons. It’s fantastic when you discover a business that’s purely good for the environment and the community. A season filled with endless events is rapidly approaching and year after year I worry about my dry cleaning. Don’t you? But not this year; I finally found a way to care for my designer clothing, and they pick it up and deliver. Pure cleaning, pure earth, pure clothes, Pure Hamptons. Go to www.PureCleanersNy.com for more details. You heard it here first.

    2. VIP concierge. Want complete access to the Hamptons? It comes at a price, but there is nothing as VIP as having a private concierge at your disposal. Luxury Attaché offers a limited number of annual memberships to exactly that for $15,000. With a carefully curated collection of services at their disposal, members gain access to premiere dining and nightclub establishments in New York City and The Hamptons, as well as assistance with travel, event planning and domestic lifestyle needs. It’s so totally bespoke and I love it. For a personalized consultation call 212-358-0200.

    3. Food. As summer approaches there’s something undeniably intriguing about finding out which new restaurants will arrive on the East End. Here’s a few you are sure to spot me at.

    Almond

Almond’s move to the former One Ocean Road location comes as delightful news to me. It’s one of my favorite spots to have steamed mussels with shallots and white wine, and is now steps away from my home. Eric Lemonides and Chef Jason Weiner always deliver delicious French bistro fare using local produce and products. Their bouillabaisse is divine. Also a little fun fact - I’m working with them to create a signature “Samantha” cocktail. How luxurious is that?

    Beach House

First Michael Gluckman took the old Bostwick space and gave us the super successful Boathouse on Three Mile Harbor; this summer he’s tackling another makeover. The former Prime 103 space will become Beach House, conceived as a steakhouse. The space is flanked with harbor views and the menu is brimming with fresh fare from a wood-burning oven. They’re also doing boxed lunches you can bring to the beach.

    Little Red

David Loewenberg and Keith Basnight are opening a second sister restaurant in Southampton called Little Red, an offshoot to their already popular spot Red Bar. The bistro fare that Red Bar is known for will be present along with a lengthy wine list. They really have defined for me how I enjoy eating in the Hamptons.

    Nobu

The discussion of Nobu opening in the Hamptons has been rumored for years and Richie Notar has finally found a home for Nobu at the Beach at the former Capri Hotel in Southampton. Tristar Capital’s David Edelstein and Jackie Mansfield, partners in the W South Beach, have teamed up with Steven Kamali of Montauk’s Surf Lodge to purchase the property that will house Nobu. Watch as that entire space transforms (a Cynthia Rowley boutique will be opening). The best part you ask? Oodles of Nobu catering at fabulous events this summer.

    Page

Natural, local organic ingredients are the focus of all the dishes at Page in Sag Harbor. How palate pleasing does seared fluke with baby bok choy, plantain puree and carrot beurre blanc sound? They also have fabulous sandwiches at lunch time.

    Southampton Social Club

Ian Duke is transforming the former Madame Tong’s Redux into Southampton Social Club. The menu has highlights of elevated traditional American fare, like a modern take on baby back ribs. The outdoor space at this spot is perfect for large dinner parties.

    Spring Close

When the Laundry closed this winter, rumors began to surface that the space would become Bagatelle (and a pool was being built!). Rumors and rumors and the truth in all of it is that former Nichols bartender Colin Keillor and his partner Matt Dauch are opening Spring Close and serving classic American fare. The Bagatelle boys are still looking - I’ll keep you posted on where they land.

    Tutto Il Giorno

After the enormous success of Tutto Il Giorno in Sag Harbor, Southamptonites are now blessed with a Tutto to call their own. The second location from Gabby Karan and Maurizio Marfoglia will be seeing me quite a bit this season. The rustic Italian fare is outstanding and the housemade papardelle is a personal favorite.

    4. Charitable events: I’m honored to be serving as a Chairperson for the HEAT event, benefiting the Ellen Hermanson Breast Center at Southampton Hospital, The Ellen Hermanson Foundation & Ellen's Well, along with Liz Gateley, Hope Klein and Gail Tobias. The Honoree will be Kim Cattrall and the event will be at Steven Klein's West Kill Farm in Bridgehampton, Saturday, July 30th - 6 - 8 p.m.

    5. It’s always exciting to see what pops up on the retail front and this year sees a flurry of openings - Lacoste, Hugo Boss, Mackenzie-Childs, Hermes and Jack Willis are all setting up shop, while Michael Kors’ East End presence grows with the opening of a lifestyle store in East Hampton. Meanwhile Maison 24, a personal favorite of mine, will add clothing to its eclectic mix.

    6. Summertime also means swimsuit season and this year FITiST.com is here to help. This invite-only, membership-based, one-stop booking site provides fitness enthusiasts with personalized workout plans curated from the best studios in the city (Aersopace, Flywheel, P57, Virayoga, David Kirsch) and designed by a board of renowned fitness experts to help members achieve their fitness goals."
