Quincy Davis knows a thing or two about balance. After all, the Montauk local and beach waved, sandy It Girl has been a sponsored surfer since the age of twelve!
Heading into the traffic jam craziness of the summer season, we caught up with Quincy to grab her take on wellness, the healthy habits that help her unwind, and the scenic spots she loves most out East.
What does a typical day out East look like for you?
This time of year I am surfing a lot more as it’s starting to warm up.
My typical morning I make a matcha or coffee and go check the waves with my boyfriend and dog, Bowie. I surf if the waves are fun and if not I do some sort of workout/movement. I have been doing online pilates a lot since quarantine started or going on long walks with my dog.
After this, I usually head down to my store and work in the office catching up on emails. In the afternoon I hang out with friends at the beach or go surfing. I love the excitement in the air in springtime with everything starting to come back alive.
How would you describe your wellness philosophy?
Wellness to me is taking care of yourself in any way that feels good to you. I think disconnecting is really important and I try to meditate a few times a week. I can feel the difference when I don’t. I’m someone who runs a bit anxious so meditation is really grounding. Being in nature is an immediate mood booster for me too!
I also try to eat a clean diet and I rarely drink so having something bubbly and nutritious like FREE RAIN stocked in the house is so great. I love to have the Calm one at night while making dinner.
What's one thing you like to do every day to unwind?
I have been using an infrared Sauna a lot and taking a bath with lots of Epsom salts, relaxing music and candles. I sleep so well when I do that before bed.
Any new healthy habits you've been working on this past year?
Meditating, positive self-talk, putting that positive energy out there as I definitely believe you receive what you put out. Also, I’m very aware of my caffeine intake so for me FREE RAIN is a great afternoon substitute for a coffee drink.
How do you like to escape the Hamptons summertime madness?
I like to balance all the summer activities and madness with my all time favorite thing to do, beach bonfire and BBQ with my family and friends. We try to schedule them pretty regularly - everyone in and out of the water all day surfing and hanging on the beach and then the sunset, it’s just the best. A perfect day of fun.
What's your go-to afternoon pick-me-up?
The FREE RAIN Energy with Tart Cherry and Siberian Gingseng. It’s so refreshing and obviously no caffeine crash, which I love!
What surfing lessons do you carry with you on land?
Try to be as present as possible and let go of trying to control stuff we can’t!
Any easy tips for people looking to be more sustainable this summer?
Please use less plastic or none at all… I always carry around my refillable water bottle. Of course pick up trash on beach walks. I love the reusable produce bags you can bring to the supermarket too!
What are your absolute favorite spots in Montauk?
Can’t tell you ;) haha. No, obviously the beaches and some special look out spots. I really love the view right when you’re driving into town, I always get so excited seeing that after coming home from a long trip.
What are you most excited for next?
I am excited for summer right now. It is starting to feel safer to be out and about, the state is reopening and people are excited. It is beautiful out here in the summer, just magical.
