Along the same lines, do you have a favorite piece of furniture or home décor? And what’s the story behind it?
I have a stunning Georgian sideboard in my Amagansett living room. It perfectly represents those contrasting elements that I crave. In this uber modernist, mid-century home, a Georgian sideboard shouldn't really make sense, but for me, it just does. I love mixing periods and styles and having a no-rule approach to design. It's what makes a space unique, special, your own! The piece was also circular when I bought it from Factory20.com. I am not quite sure what it was used for originally, with its massive depth and round back. I chopped off more than ¾ of the back of the sideboard in order to make it work in my space. Sometimes you need to manipulate things to make them right. Trust your instincts!
