The founders of Scope Art don't simply want you to buy their art; they also want you to appreciate and understand it. At tonight's opening reception, held at East Hampton Studios, some of the world's foremost collectors are putting themselves up for auction. Melva Bucksbaum, Beth Rudin DeWoody, Eileen and Richard Ekstract, Raymond Learsy, Arnold Lehman, Kim Levin, Adam Lindemann, Enrique Norten, Dennis Oppenheim, Nancy Seltzer, Richard Stewart, Terrie Sultan, Rob Teeters, Jed Walentas, and Rick Weste are each offering an hour of their time, to be spent at the winning bidder's disposal.
If you can afford it, this isn't an opportunity to be ignored, for an hour spent with an agendaless, passionate, and extremely knowledgeable collector is better than years of haggling with dealers. Even if you can't, the crowd -filled with art, fashion, and music elite, plus live music, food, and cocktails, is well worth the $15 entry ticket.
East Hampton Studios are located at 77 Industrial Road, Wainscott. The auction will go from 5-8, and the celebration from 8-11.
