The summer is the season to go berry picking. So why not make your own jam? It's simple, delicious and if you make it yourself, it's free of preservatives. Plus, it's a fun family activity and a great way to silently tell your friends that you know how to do a little bit of everything. It's a good gift to bring if you know you'll be staying overnight somewhere, because a good host will put it out for breakfast the next morning and you're sure to get compliments.
You will need:
5 cups blackberries, washed and drained
1 tablespoon lemon juice
7 cups sugar
1 (1.75 ounce) package dry pectin
6 (1/2 pint) Canning Jars with lids
