7. Chanel has acquired the 140-year old Scottish manufacturer Barrie Knitwear, in hopes of securing a successful business future with their textile production. The firm will still be run by its current management team and uphold to existing contracts without exclusivity. The head of Chanel’s fashion division Bruno Pavlovsky said there was a risk the firm could disappear and expressed, "the company is one of the last in Scotland that is capable of producing sophisticated wares to display on the catwalks, and then to manufacture them.” [
