[All photos by Carrie Shaltz for PMc] Rosson Crow debuted her latest exhibit, "Bowery Boys", last night at Deitch Projects. Sadly, it will be one of the last shows to take place at the gallery before it closes its doors.-
The young artist from Texas is known for her larger than life paintings that mix history and theatrics. Rosson also tends to pay homage to the city her works will be displayed in; for her new home of New York City, she was inspired by the history of the "bad boys" of the underground art scene.
These gorgeous oil paintings are bold, loud and brave. From a retro sex club to a barber shop to a red opium den in 1880s Chinatown, Rosson left no aspect of the city untouched. It's a perfect fit for a closing show at Deitch, which is widely regarded as one of the most daring galleries left in New York.
The fashionable and extravagant guests taking in the exhibit included Zac Posen, Michelle Harper, Jeremy Scott and Yvonne Villareal.
