Get ready to set sail because the Titanic couple are putting themselves up for auction! Kate Winslet and Leonardo DiCaprio, a.k.a. Jack and Rose, a.k.a. the best male-female romance of all time, have put themselves up for bid for a stranger to win a date with the pair this fall, just in time for Titanic's 20th birthday. The winner (who will likely pay a very generous sum) gets to choose the location of the date and we hope they choose to be on land.
The bid will be taking place at the annual DiCaprio Foundation auction gala in St. Tropez on July 26th. Some of the proceeds of the bid will be going to the DiCaprio Foundation and the stakes are high since the charity has raised more than $80 million in grants to environmental causes since 2008. The rest of the funds will benefit Winslet's cofounded charity, the Golden Hat Foundation that helps support children with autism and their families along with regional charities in the U.K. The dinner will also benefit a GoFundMe campaign that the British star has been involved with to help pay for the cancer treatment of a young mother.
The gala held today in St. Tropez will be nothing short of A-listers and stars wanting to do some good. The event will feature a special performance by Lenny Kravitz along with awarding honorees, most notably, Paris' Mayor Anne Hidalgo receiving the foundation's "New World Leadership Award" for her efforts to make Paris a more sustainable urban living space. Notable guests of last year's gala, which raised $45 million, were DiCaprio's on-screen bromance Jonah Hill, pop diva Mariah Carey, esteemed philanthropist Bono, the most disagreeable actor of all time, Edward Norton, and of course, a member of the notorious Pussy Posse, Tobey Maguire.
Honestly, I would bid higher for a date with a reunited Pussy Posse now that they are all single Daddys™, but to each her own!
