Antibes

Just a stone’s throw away from Cannes is the quieter town of Antibes. While Antibes is not as bustling as Cannes, a lot of people do tend to stay in the coastal part of Juan les Pins, in Cap d’Antibes, which boasts some pretty nice beaches, and more privacy than the paparazzi’s playground of Promenade de La Croisette. Juan les Pins is also where the legendary amFAR Cinema for AIDS gala takes place every year. Chaired by Hollywood and fashion heavyweights such as Harvey Weinstein, Sharon Stone, Carine Roitfeld, and co-Chairs that include the who’s who of the modeling world including Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, Karlie Kloss, and Irina Shayk - this is a not to be missed event by the industry for the industry. Apart from celebrity sighting, the amFAR auction is a collector’s dream and perfect for the people who have everything money can buy. From rare artwork to travel escapes, to exclusive celebrity access, attendees are willing to splash out, as evidenced by the over US$170 million raised in 23 years.

Of course, for those who prefer to avoid the craziness of the film festivities can enjoy a variety of activities, including walking around the old maritime town of Antibes where hole in the wall shops and quaint cafes can be discovered. The former Château Grimaldi which was converted into the Picasso Museum - houses the artist’s largest collection, making it a great cultural interlude from all the buzz around the film festival.
